Anegada, BVI - Big Iguana with Grapes

Posted by Pixadilly (Anegada, Virgin Islands, British) on 4 January 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

This is the largest of the endangered Anegada iguana that I saw in the wild. There are only a few hundred of these creatures in existence, but they're coming back due to the efforts of the International Iguana Foundation (whose website you can visit at www.iguanafoundation.org). It was enticed out of the shadows with ripe sea grapes, seen in the lower left of the photo.
