Anegada, BVI - Treats for the Iguana

Posted by Pixadilly (Anegada, Virgin Islands, British) on 20 December 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

The wild iguana on Anegada are endangered. The program to save them from extinction includes a "headstart" facility where juveniles born in the wild can be safely caged until they grow large enough to survive in the wild. This can take several years. One of the favorite food treats for the iguanas are hibiscus flowers.
