The famous Sanctuary at Chimayo, a place of pilgrimage for thousands each year, has numerous sculptures and depictions of Our Lady of Guadaloupe, the dark virgin, and the humble Mexican to whom she allegedly appeared in 1531. It's worth going to Wikipedia and searching for Juan Diego to read about his impact on Catholicism in Mexico and the New World.
